TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Accounting Technician (Hybrid) in Austin, Texas

To support our mission, we are looking for an Accounting Technician II to join the Payables and Payroll Department. This position is located at 101 E. 15th St, Austin, Texas. Position will require the new employee to be in office a minimum of 2 days during training. Employee will be allowed a hybrid work schedule of in-office and telecommuting after completing training. You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: Th Accounting Technician II performs highly complex (senior-level) technical accounting support work. Work involves performing detailed assignments in recording, examining, and verifying financial records. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: - Monitor the departments' generic email boxes. - Manage all paper and digital mail. - Maintain and record all invoices received by the department. - Forward paper and digital communication as necessary. - Answer phone calls and assist callers in getting to appropriate department. - Escalate emails as appropriate. - Perform other general clerical duties as assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH: -Successful completion of 45 semester hours of accredited collegework, which included at least 6 semester hours of accounting. -One year of full-time experience in accounting, finance or a relatedfield may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) ofeducation. -A license to practice as a certified public accountant in Texas willsatisfy the education and/or experience requirements.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH: - Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems. - Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software. - Skill in the use of outlook. - Skill in data entry. - Ability to review work for accuracy, to accurately perform detailed numerical work, and to communicate effectively.
