Job/Position DescriptionThis accountant II performs complex accounting work relating to the receipt, disposition and monitoring of recoupments and miscellaneous revenues received by the agency. Work involves coding, posting, and balancing accounting documents and records; receiving cash; preparing deposit slips; assisting with the monitoring of daily cash receipts to ensure all money received is properly accounted for and deposited timely to meet compliance deadlines. Job functions also include general ledger entry, journal posting, and other general ledger functions. This work involves the use of several different systems (CAPPS Financials, USAS, Cashier, and QuickBooks).This position may provide cross-training and guidance to other accounting staff on critical job functions. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment and must have the ability to complete assignments within the defined parameters and deadlines.Essential Job Functionsand#149;Sorts, codes and records receipt of revenue into the Accounts Receivable Database (Cashier) and QuickBooksand#149;Prepares, records and delivers daily depositsand#149;Processes corrections identified during reconciliation to ensure accurate reporting.and#149;Monitors and records revenue entries of Comptroller generated itemsand#149;Researches, gathers supporting documentation, and processes transactions related to expenditure refunds, Warrant Holds, OAG collections and other funds, including ITV's from other Agenciesand#149;Facilitates and assists with recoupment efforts and processes payment plan requests for funds owed to the agency.and#149;Records and processes recoupments in accordance with DFPS policies and State and Federal statutes and guidelines.and#149;Assist in the maintenance, development, and upgrade efforts of the recoupment items tracking database.and#149;Cross-train and provide backup coverage for others in the unitand#149;Interacts routinely with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services staff, representatives from other State agencies, and the general public. and#149;Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations, including assisting in other areas of the Cash Management unit and the Accounting Division.and#149;Promotes and demonstrates appropriate respect for cultural diversity among coworkers all work-related contacts.and#149;Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.
