VCA Animal Hospitals Patient Care Attendant in Aurora, Illinois

Job Title: Patient Care Attendant - Internal Medicine

Location: VCA Aurora Animal Hospital, Aurora, IL

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Patient Care Attendant . This entry-level position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about animal care, has excellent communication skills, and is eager to learn and grow in a veterinary hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Housekeeping and Husbandry: Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in examination rooms, treatment areas, and kennel areas.

  • Stocking the Internal Medicine Department

  • Feeding and Watering: Follow feeding and watering instructions provided by veterinary team.

  • Patient Walking: Take patients on scheduled walks and bathroom breaks.

  • Assist with grooming and bathing of patients as needed.

  • Follow all hospital policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of animals, clients, and staff members.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience working with animals is preferred but not required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards animals and their owners.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.

  • Must be able to bend and kneel repeatedly

  • Must be able to stand for a long of period of time

Schedule: Full-Time with rotating weekends.
