Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project timelines, support and coordinate project milestones

  • Communicate progress effectively to all partners.

  • Coordinate recruitment efforts for research participants within the American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities.

  • Coordinate data collection.

  • Coordinating payments for consultants.

  • Track project expenditures and work with the Fiscal Team to ensure compliance with funding requirements.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop research protocols and ensure adherence to ethical standards.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff and students involved in the project.

  • Coordinate dissemination activities, including presentations at conferences and community events, and engage in knowledge translation efforts to ensure research findings reach relevant audiences.

  • Maintain relationships with funding agencies and assist with grant reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • A bachelor's degree in public health, social/behavioral sciences, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • At least 1 year of professional level experience working in public health or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in public health, social/behavioral sciences, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution

  • Experience working with AI/AN research.

  • Experience developing research progress reports for funding agencies.

  • Experience writing scholarly reports and manuscripts.

  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative data collection.

  • Experience coordinating meetings, listening sessions, etc.

  • Experience using software programs including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Qualtrics/REDCap, Canva, Zoom, Adobe products.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Cultural competence in AI/AN communities and adaptability to University and reservation-based research

  • Strong project management skills

  • Leadership and mentorship capabilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to establish and maintain cooperative and supportive relationships with all project staff and partners.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to summarize research findings clearly and accurately.

  • Ability to travel periodically (typically 1-2 times per year).

  • Demonstrates a high level of independence, strong time management skills, and excellent organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively alongside people with different cultural attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors.

The Colorado School of Public Health seeks a full-time Professional Research Assistant, Level 3 at 1.0 FTE. This position will be responsible for supporting the work of the Tribal Reservation Adolescent Connections Study (TRACS) at the Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health (CAIANH). Responsibilities include but are not limited to liaising between the university and a tribal community, providing technical assistance on program evaluation and data collection, facilitating partner engagement, overseeing the University and Tribal Ethical research compliance, contributing to developing reports and scholarly manuscripts, and additional research duties. The Tribal Reservation Adolescent Connections Study (TRACS) is an R01 NIH project spanning five years. TRACS is a school-based study conducted within a single reservation in the Great Plains, examining the complex dynamics of social networks among American Indian youth. The study explores the relationship between these networks and substance use, suicide risk, and exposure to violence among adolescents within this specific community. This position will play a pivotal role in advancing the understanding of risk and protective factors within AI/AN communities, focusing on informing interventions and policies to promote adolescent health and well-being. This PRA position will be a hybrid position with some days each week working from the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado, and the option to have a flexible work location some days each week with supervisor approval.

The starting salary range () for this position has been established as $60,000 - $62,000 for 1.0 FTE The above salary represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the salary possible at the time of posting.
