Job Overview

The injury prevention specialist oversees the daily operations of the safety store. They are primarily working on their own in the store and interacting with customers, clinical partners, and community partners. It would be ideal to get someone who has retail experience. Spanish-speaking preferred. This is unique for a retail role, however, as this person will train on Injury Prevention outreach information and will also deliver programming in the community. The candidate must become certified as a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST, certified car seat educator) within 9 months. We will provide training for this certification.

Additional Information

Department Name: Community Health and Advocacy/Injury Prevention Job Status: Full time, 40 hours per week. Shift: Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm. In person role. Our team occasionally does outreach events on weekends. Participation is flexible, though our team members truly enjoy these events and tend to want to work them. This is an occasional thing, not consistent or scheduled.

Qualifications

EDUCATION - High School Diploma. EXPERIENCE - Two years of experience coordinating and implementing preventing and education initiatives that help address social determinants of health.

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE No direct patient care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. 1.Collects and uses valid and reliable quantitative and qualitative data. 2.Contributes to assessments of community health status and factors influencing health in a community. 3.Contributes to development of program goals and objectives; contributes to implementation of 4.Implements CHCO population health strategies; Gathers information that can inform options for policies, programs, and services. 5.Assists with the coordination of program specific outreac events, as prescribed, and maintains program branding materials including brochures and websites. Suggests approaches for disseminating public health data and information. 6.Describes the concept of diversity as it applies to individuals and populations; addresses the diversity of individuals and populations when implementing policies, programs, and services that affect the health of a community. 7.Serves as liaison between program, department, CHCO and community partners.
