Job Summary:

  • Manage large-scale incidents related to network and Wi-Fi.

  • Assist with coverage, projects, or initiatives within OIT when available (not actively supporting their assigned division staff). Such activities will not interfere with the primary responsibilities assigned to this role.

  • Developing, with your peer managers, training, and mentoring programs. Foster intra-departmental cohesion in the delivery of end-to-end networking technologies.

  • Assignment and management of work requests, and user issues related to network, WAN technologies, and Wi-Fi. Engage in high-level problem-solving activities to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions to meet customers' needs.

  • Provide support Network/Communications, for example:

  • Develop/Update standard deployment designs for an enterprise level network across multiple campuses and satellite locations.

  • Develop/Update/Document exceptions to standard deployment designs as required so that they can be supported by IT Engineers and Technicians in perpetuity.

  • Deployment, support, and resolution of incidents concerning wireless network technology.

  • Deployment, support, and resolution of incidents concerning wired network technology.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate has graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering, or a closely related field.

  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical or System Administration experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • 5 – 8 years of progressive experience in networking

  • 2-5-years' experience must be in routing and network architecture.

  • 2- 5 years' experience in supporting an enterprise wireless infrastructure in large conference, presentation, or educational environments.

  • 2-5 years of supervisory or team lead experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, business, or IT security.

  • Experience in higher education or government environment with experience in networking in an enterprise-class environment.

  • Current cisco network certification (e.g. CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE)

  • Current wireless certification (e.g. Ekahau)

  • Extensive and broad high-level network experience beyond CCNP that pertains to many specialties: security, VoIP, wireless and so on

  • Experience transitioning from iPv4 to lPv6 networking.

  • Experience supervising state employees.

Hybrid - This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment. The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $110,000 - $153,696. The above salary range () represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
