Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide team direction and leadership for the HR Specialists on the HRSS team.

  • Hire, train, supervise, and direct the HR Specialists on the HRSS team.

  • Develop, in collaboration with the Executive Committee, a methodology for funding HRSS.

  • Create and manage HRSS budget.

  • Act as a primary contact for stakeholders in the departments seeking assistance from HRSS.

  • Monitor and actively direct workload within HRSS. Develop and manage a system for balancing application assignments among members of HRSS.

  • Provide ongoing metrics reports to stakeholders and meet individually with them as needed.

  • Arrange ongoing training for HR Specialists on the HRSS team.

  • Act as liaison with the Department of Human Resources.

  • Develop record keeping system to maintain new hire data for each department.

  • Develop systems of integrating technology into HRSS to maximize efficiency and effectiveness, e.g., desktop conferencing, records management, metrics, etc.

  • Develop systems for communicating information to departmental constituents (Principal Investigators, Chairs, and Directors of Finance and Administration).

  • Initiate administrative activities of HRSS to ensure its cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and its operational flow.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Communications, or a related field.

  • Three (3) or more years of professional, progressively responsible experience in Human Resources recruitment and selection, personnel management, or related experience.

  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Experience working in an academic medical center.

  • Experience working with PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to set goals, motivate HRSS team members, and achieve results for HRSS.

  • Independent judgment, critical thinking, analysis, and self-directed work.

  • Excellent communication skills are essential as this position will interact with faculty, staff, administrators, and HRSS team members regularly.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with people from many levels within the organization.

  • Excellence in establishing work priorities, providing action and accountability to established deadlines.

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges.

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of supervisory techniques, management principles, and organizational leadership.

  • Advanced use of Microsoft Excel.

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality with sensitive information.

  • Strong project management skills and experience within a complex and diverse environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and creative human resources leader to lead a human resources team in the University of Colorado, School of Medicine. Human Resources Shared Services (HRSS) manages and streamlines human resource functions for participating departments. This position is a full-time position within the School of Medicine on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. This position serves as the HR Manager and a working member of the Human Resources Shared Services (HRSS) team. The position is responsible for the management, development, implementation, and oversight of the human resource functions in the basic science and clinical departments that are members of HRSS. The position provides policy guidance and interpretation to the members of HRSS on a wide variety of personnel issues assuring compliance with Federal, University, and departmental rules and regulations. The Manager works in collaboration with the Human Resources Executive Committee that oversees HRSS to make and implement strategic decisions that impact HRSS. The Manager works closely and collaboratively with a variety of partners including the School of Medicine Director of Human Resources, The School of Medicine Associate HR Director, the HR Collaborative Units Program Director, the School of Medicine Director of Faculty Affairs, and the Office of International Student and Scholar Services.

– this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.
