Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions.

  • Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting, and communicating results.

  • Perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical test processes and evaluate the results produced.

  • Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas.

  • Provide animal care related to research studies, as necessary.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or a related field.

  • Prior experience or background within an experimental or wet lab.

  • Previous professional laboratory experience in immunology, stem cell, or cancer biology.

  • Experience with CRISPR, transfection, and transduction.

  • Previous independent laboratory experience outside of required courses is preferred.

  • FACS experience.

  • Experience in computational analysis, and RNA biology is highly preferred. Familiarity or expertise with Illumina DNA sequencing analysis would greatly accelerate this line of research.

  • Previous experience in presenting or publishing biology research, even if not on author list.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

  • Experience with pipetting and aseptic tissue culture.

  • Ability to maintain a laboratory notebook.

  • Able to take the initiative to address research issues.

  • An ability to clearly demonstrate a passion for scientific research and must exhibit a strong commitment to perform scientific research with a desire to pursue an advanced MD, Ph.D., or combined degree in the biological sciences.

  • Detail-oriented and organized.

  • Ability to work independently.
