Colorado Veterans Community Living Center (VCLC) at Fitzsimons is a beautiful 180-bed, skilled nursing facility serving Colorado’s veterans. Description of Job

Duties of the Custodian include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs daily cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing of assigned work area by sweeping,

dust-mopping, wet-mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, etc.

  • Performs daily detail cleaning of assigned area by washing wall, doors, frames, sills,

windows, baseboards, fixtures, furnishings, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures.

  • Performs project floor work consisting of buffing, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and sealing of hard floors surfaces

  • Performs bonnet cleaning, spot cleaning, shampooing, and extracting of carpeted floors

  • Uses appropriate disinfectant cleaners, chemicals and equipment and meets chemical labeling requirements

  • Collects and disposes of trash and bio-hazardous waste by properly containing and transporting to proper disposal locations

  • Participates in moving furniture, appliances, equipment manually and by use of moving equipment.

  • Replaces light bulbs and assists with minor building repairs

  • Cleans and services equipment

  • Maintains custodian closet, and stocks and distributes supplies throughout the units and main building following par levels

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications :

Three months of experience performing custodial work

Your experience must explicitly include this experience in order to be considered for the position, so please list custodial duties performed in previous positions, if applicable.

Substitutions:

None

Preferred Qualification :

  • Experience in a long-term care/assisted living environment

  • One year of experience working as a custodian

  • Working with biohazardous waste

Conditions of Employment:

  • Full background check

  • Must complete a Tuberculosis Test and obtain vaccinations, as required by the state and facility

  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license

  • Must be able to work shift work, which may include day, evening, and night shifts, as well as holiday & weekends, as needed

  • May be required to use, handle, or have exposure to hazardous materials: Proximity to moving, mechanical parts; exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; exposure to electrical shock; and/or working in highly exposed places

  • Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must (1) disclose that information on the application (2) provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position, (3) provide the employee number from the applicant’s prior State employment. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination and failure to provide this information will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.

    Appeal Rights:

    If you receive notice that you have been eliminated from consideration for this position, you may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board or request a review by the State Personnel Director.

    An appeal or review must be submitted on the official appeal form, signed by you or your representative.
