Job Overview

The Clinical Pharmacist Float Critical Care ensures safe, appropriate, and economical use of drugs through the application of specialized skills and knowledge in pediatric patient care. This position will provide clinical pharmacy services to support our growing medical and surgical areas. This pharmacist will join two (2) other General Medicine Clinical Pharmacists to broaden the services currently being provided and lead the development of the pharmacist role in service expansion. This Clinical Pharmacist Float Critical Care is an integral team member of the pharmacist competency group. This pharmacist rotates through various specialties such as neonatal critical care, pediatric critical care, cardiovascular critical care, heart transplant, and emergency department. The Pharmacist rounds with the multidisciplinary care team, performs therapeutic drug monitoring, makes therapeutic recommendations, provides patient education, precepts, and much more. The Department of Pharmacy provides comprehensive clinical services to patients at Children's Hospital Colorado. We have organized clinical pharmacy services that complement the team approach to providing care. Our clinical pediatric pharmacists are available 24 hours a day and help ensure the safe and effective use of medication in children - as well as promote health, wellness and disease prevention. Our specially-trained pharmacists work with physicians and other healthcare professionals to determine the best medication regimen and monitoring plan for the pediatric patient. Clinical pharmacy services are integrated into virtually all inpatient care units as designated pharmacists round with the medical teams. Through this direct involvement, pharmacists are empowered to assist in a great deal of therapeutic decision making and therapeutic drug monitoring activities.

Additional Information

Department: Pharmacy Hours per week:40, eligible for benefits Shift: Monday - Friday, days/evenings. Every 3rd weekend rotating and selec ed holidays.

Qualifications

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree Experience: Completion of one year pharmacy residency Equivalency: One year of pharmacy work experience accepted in lieu of residency Certification(s): BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute accepted) Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Pharmacist license Previous pediatric and residency training is preferred.
