Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing database to house financial data from multiple organizations including CU Anschutz, CU Medicine, the CU Foundation, and other organizations as appropriate.

  • Achieve and maintain Epic certifications that enable access to data and dashboarding capabilities at hospital partners (e.g., Children's Hospital Colorado and UCHealth).

  • Maintain and improve unified system for FTE planning and clinical FTE reporting.

  • Develop research project-specific reports and dashboards with PI and stakeholders as prioritized by Data Governance Committee

  • Develop skills in supervising the BI developer and any students to enable delegation and cross-coverage of financial, revenue cycle, human resources, clinical productivity, research, and clinical operations & quality responsibilities.

  • Work with employees in the Department and Data Governance Committee to ensure that new or existing data initiatives can integrate with existing departmental databases and reporting to facilitate global reports such as year-end reviews.

  • Create and maintain end user documentation that defines fields, metrics, business rules, and best practices to allow users to use reporting and analytics efficiently and effectively.

  • The BI Developer & Program Manager may have other duties and responsibilities as assigned such as user training, change management, presentations, and professional development.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in business intelligence, information technology, data analysis, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Four (4) years of experience creating reports, visualizations, and/or analytics within a large organization (serving over 100 employees).

  • Experience with common business intelligence tools such as PowerBI and Tableau and integrating such tools with various database technologies.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master's or higher in business intelligence, information technology, mathematics, statistics, data analysis, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • Currently possesses all required certifications listed within the Conditions of Employment: Epic Cogito, Clarity, Caboodle, and one of Clinical Data Model or Revenue Cycle Data Model.

  • One (1) year of experience with Epic Caboodle data warehouse and extending Caboodle.

  • One (1) year of experience with Epic Clarity and creating custom tables enriched by Clarity data using scheduler and stored procedures.

  • Experience with non-Epic enterprise data warehouses using various database technologies such as Microsoft and Oracle.

  • Experience creating and maintaining stored procedures, tables, scheduled jobs, and other database artifacts.

  • Experience using PeopleSoft Finance and HR, Microsoft AX, or other systems used by CU Anschutz or its affiliates.

  • Experience in behavioral health.

  • Experience with Power Automate, DAX, VBA, Python, and/or R.

  • Experience in finance, revenue cycle management, clinical operations, and human resources practices at CU Anschutz or its affiliates.

  • Experience in academic medicine or healthcare.

  • Experience in mental health and knowledge of mental health billing.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Epic Certifications in Cogito, Clarity, and Caboodle, and at least one of Clinical Data Model or Revenue Cycle Data Model or ability to obtain required certifications within six months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced level knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and Power Automate, DAX, VBA, Python, and/or R.

  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Access, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite including Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Teams.

  • Proficiency with Epic Cogito, Clarity, and Caboodle.

  • High level of analytical ability.

  • Experience with or knowledge of research methods, data gathering and dissemination.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
