Our client, the commercial real estate industry, is seeking a building engineer to join their team. Ideal candidates should have strong technical skills in plumbing, HVAC (preferably with EPA Universal certification), and data center equipment such as RTUs and CRAC units.
Job Title: Building engineer
Location: Aurora, CO
Pay Range: $29.30/hr on w2
Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm
Assignment Duration: 4 months, potential for permanent placement ($31/hr for the right candidate)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician to manage the daily operations, preventive maintenance, and repair of a data center facility in Aurora, CO. This hands-on role requires expertise in HVAC, plumbing, general maintenance, and electrical systems. The ideal candidate will proactively identify and address issues, ensuring optimal facility operation and safety. The technician will collaborate with a resident electrician, complete work orders, and perform routine rounds to maintain all building systems and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct rounds and readings to monitor data center sensors, temperature, and building conditions, identifying and resolving any issues proactively.
Perform preventive maintenance services, generator testing, and address work orders, ensuring daily completion and closure.
Inspect building systems, including fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing, and lighting systems, for operational efficiency and adherence to design parameters.
Collaborate with electricians and other team members on maintenance activities and work order tasks.
Oversee and inspect work by contractors in areas like landscaping, HVAC, plumbing, and general repairs.
Complete documentation, maintenance records, and energy management procedures to maximize operational cost-efficiency.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum 5+ years in building maintenance, with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, and general maintenance.
Education: High School diploma or GED required; trade school preferred.
Certifications: Universal EPA license and HVAC certification preferred; additional certifications in electrical, mechanical, or other relevant fields are advantageous.
Skills: Strong understanding of plumbing (toilets, sump pumps), HVAC systems (RTUs, CRAC units), basic electrical knowledge, and general carpentry.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs/ladders, and perform duties requiring stooping, standing, and walking.
Software Proficiency: Basic computer literacy with familiarity in Microsoft Office Suite for record-keeping and work order systems.
