Maintain an effective working relationship with the Surgeon-in-Chief, department chairs, medical staff and hospital administration
Foster positive working relationships with liaisons from other services ยท Provide operative care for a broad spectrum of pediatric surgical conditions, including all facets of general pediatric surgery, and trauma and acute care surgery
Provide operative care for a broad spectrum of Neonatal and Fetal surgery (e.g. Fetal MMC repair, Fetal TTTS laser, Fetal EXIT, Fetal shunt placement, Fetal RFA)
Perform outpatient fetal consultation for surgical disease processes
Attend weekly clinic and team meetings
Shared call coverage within group
Contribute to clinical research and training of Pediatric Surgery residents and fellows
Perform other duties as assigned

Ability to obtain license to practice as a physician in the state of Colorado with prescriptive privileges

The Division of Pediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has a full- time (1.0 FTE) faculty position available at an open rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Within the Colorado Fetal Care Center responsibilities will include outpatient fetal consultation, fetal procedures to include myelomeningocele repair, fetoscopy, EXIT procedures, and ultrasound guided percutaneous procedures, and inpatient rounding. In addition to prenatal management, the CFCC is committed to promoting continuity of care postnatally for neonates delivered at the CFCC which includes neonatal surgery and long-term management. This position includes inpatient and outpatient medical care services, and resident training for general Pediatric Surgery Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO)), Denver Health, St. Joseph's Medical Center, as well as other local campuses and Colorado Springs. The position is expected to perform 50% clinical FTE as a Pediatric Surgeon and 50% as a Fetal Surgeon. The candidate will be expected to provide independent clinical services, supervise advance practice providers (APPs) in the provision of independent clinical services for patients, as well as teach and supervise residents and fellows. These duties will include inpatient and outpatient clinical services, as well as inpatient and outpatient surgeries at CHCO and its affiliated practice locations. Pediatric Surgery Fetal Surgery The candidate will be expected to provide independent clinical services primarily for the Pediatric Surgical Service at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO). Duties will include primarily coordination of care of the following inpatient teams and outpatient clinics: Pediatric Surgery and Fetal Surgery. The open rank surgeon will participate in the Division of Pediatric Surgery's Network of Care, which includes coverage responsibilities at our North Campus, South Campus, Denver Health, St. Joseph's, and Colorado Springs. The position will be primarily based at the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) and the Colorado Fetal Care Center (CFCC) at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. The open rank surgeon reports to the Division Chief. The open rank surgeon will provide direct clinical instruction to Advanced Practice Professionals, fellows, residents, and nurses. The open rank surgeon will educate and hold clinic providers accountable for adherence to CHCO practice, operational, and behavioral standards.
At the Colorado Fetal Care Center (CFCC), comprehensive maternal and fetal care is provided for mothers and babies, before birth and beyond. We provide comprehensive, world-class testing, diagnosis, treatment, and care. for unborn babies and mothers-to-be. In the CFCC, we deliver over 300 babies per year and perform 100 fetal surgeries. We are a regional referral center with over 25% of our patients coming from outside Colorado. Our multidisciplinary care team in the CFCC is comprised of Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, genetic counselors, fetal cardiologists, pediatric surgeons, fetal radiologists and many more.
