Responsibilities:

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage more complex accounting engagements within budget (includes developing a budget for) and deadline expectations

  • Identify, respond to, and resolve client issues working directly with client, or in collaboration with other accountants

  • Manage expectations effectively through clear and continuous communication with the client and/or other accountants

  • Communicate advice and answer questions of other Wipfli associates relating to clients' accounting situations

  • Continued advancement in technical accounting capabilities as well as advancement in “soft skill” competencies

  • Proactively seek out new business opportunities by participating in various business development activities, and having a comprehensive understanding of services provided by the firm

  • Ensure high quality of delivery and satisfied clients

  • Provide training, direction, supervision and mentoring to other firm associates, as applicable

    Additional Responsibilities

  • May serve as performance coach for 1-5 associates

  • Participate in and provide leadership for firm initiatives and projects

  • Perform and/or support client billing and collections

  • Actively participate in community/ firm activities to develop positive relationships with community leaders and members

  • Active leadership in community organizations

  • Assist in the development of internal procedures, forms, policies, etc.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

  • CPA certification required in the respective state in which they are practicing

  • Advanced Leadership Certification or other Advanced Degree Education preferred

  • Requires 8+ years of job related experience (with preferred experience in any of the following: construction & real estate, manufacturing, technology)

  • Requires prior audit experience

  • Management and/or mentoring experience with other staff members

  • Experience making recommendations to management

  • Prior public accounting experience desired

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work effectively

  • Ability to balance many projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work under pressure and time deadlines

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to analyze data and recommend solutions

  • Ability to manage associates and resolve conflicts

  • Ability to identify, address and resolve client concerns

  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality, personal objectivity and professional skepticism

  • Requires accurate and effective writing and verbal communication to convey information to firm associates and client personnel, including boiling technical matters and jargon into plain English

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook and some or all of the following software applications: Depreciation, tax preparation, tax research, tax projection, document management system and accounting packages such as QuickBooks, Peachtree, etc.

    Work Relationship and Scope

    Position will report to the Performance Coach for priority setting and direction. Works closely with clients and firm administration to complete responsibilities. Networks with prospective and current clients, business organizations, and business and community leaders.
