MaineGeneral Health Occupational Therapist (OT)– Mental Health/Substance Use Disorder, Full-time in Augusta, Maine

Job Description: Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week; 32 hours in IOP and 8 hours inpatient)

Your Role: We are looking for an Occupational Therapist (OT) who is not just skilled but deeply inspired to make a difference in the lives of those battling mental health and substance use issues. In this role, you will work across our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and inpatient unit, providing vital care that empowers patients to regain independence and reclaim their lives. You’ll be an essential part of a dedicated team that understands the courage it takes for our patients to seek help—and you’ll be there to guide them every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide occupational therapy services within assigned areas, focusing on patients who need to develop, recover, or maintain occupational skills and activities of daily living.

  • Assess patients' abilities to safely and effectively perform occupational tasks, designing appropriate care plans that include type and frequency of treatment.

  • Implement treatment plans using appropriate modalities; document subjective and objective findings, patient progress, assessment findings, and plans. Monitor and adjust care plans as necessary and seek consultation when needed.

  • Educate and counsel patients and their families or caregivers, assisting with patient discharge and providing guidance on adaptive equipment and support programs.

  • Supervise and delegate care provided by Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and therapy technicians, ensuring compliance with licensing laws, state regulations, and practice standards.

  • What We’re Looking For:

  • Required: Current State of Maine Occupational Therapist (OT) License

  • Experience: Previous experience with the Mental Health/Substance Use population is highly valued
