Job Description
TITLE : Senior Project Engineer
DUTIES : FEV North America, Inc. seeks a Senior Project Engineer based out of our office at 4554 Glenmeade Lane, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. This position does not require travel.
Leading the development of base engine controls, aftertreatment controls, hybrid powertrain controls and on-board diagnostic (OBD) systems. Responsible for virtual calibration of developed controls software through model in the loop (MIL) and Hardware in the loop (HIL) software testing. Perform controls development of advanced powertrain concepts such as range extender with fuel cell or internal combustion engine as power source. Involve in customer communication including presentation of controls concepts, delivery of controls software, delivery of calibration guidelines, technical guidance and communication of program status. Support proposal preparation efforts including, writing, resource planning and reviewing prior to submission to the customer. Contribute to research and studies that lead to industry publications.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering and three years of experience in the job offered or related. Experience must include: experience with controls development of engines, diesel engine aftertreatment system and hybrid powertrains; experience with engine combustion system, engine gas exchange process, aftertreatment system reactions, motor-generator operation and battery management system; experience with software capabilities and tools including GT-Suite (multiphysics), C (control software) and Matlab/Simulink (control software); experience with controls concept development for future applications, which must include state-of-the-art powertrain performance as well as concept potential and future emission legislation for world-wide markets; experience developing virtual calibration for powertrain controls software using XIL techniques; and experience with control software development for OBD monitoring.
