Position:

Seat Design Engineer (Multiple Openings)

Duties:

Design, package, and develop automotive seating systems and components. Support the

release of seat systems for vehicle production. Review vehicle seat designs and create

computer-aided design (CAD) models of design proposals, as well as technical designs for packaging seat components in the overall vehicle environment. Perform vehicle safety design and failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA) and design verification plan and report (DVP&R). Execute vehicle system build and functional objectives. Complete 2D and 3D development of steel and structure, plastic components, and assemblies. Design components and systems that meet motor vehicle safety standards. Oversee packaging and function between seats, carpet, BIW, hard time, and headliner of occupants. Utilize design for six sigma (DFSS). Perform risk assessments. Handle supplier technical reviews and design reviews with vehicles program teams. Using Teamcenter for data management and release.

Location: Various, unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; Telecommuting permitted.

Minimum

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's* -- Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field of study. Experience: Three (3)* years in the position above, as an Engineering Technologist, or in a related mechanical engineering role. Experience must include:

  1. Automotive seat design and development using Catia.
  2. Root cause analysis using Kaizen methodology and 5 Whys analysis.
  3. Creation of 3D and 2D seat and part models, drawings, and animations.
  4. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) regulations.
  5. Completion of design test plans and risk assessments.

relevant education, experience, and/or training.
