In this role, you will manage individual projects and provides direction and consistency in execution for the project management staff in Robotics and Discrete Automation in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This role will provide overall direction for project execution and is responsible for overall project budget & plan accountability in the Local Business Line Industries, US. This role will also be responsible for project margin adherence to plan and for on time delivery for all projects in the Business Line. The successful candidate will need to coach project managers and follow all execution processes in line with human resources best practices and will manage individual performance metrics for Project Management staffThis position reports to Manager Operations 2Your responsibilities
Project portfolio: Ensure that the portfolio of projects is managed consistently based on best practices and ABB Policies, Controls and SOX requirements Instructions and guidelines: Lead and oversea the local project execution team, ensuring that ABB Policies are consistently followed. Develop, customize, and continuously improve standard processes and work instructions by adopting ABB and external best practices. Ensure that lessons learned from project execution are analyzed and conclusions are incorporated in continuous improvement actions Project execution and control: Supervise project execution and performance management through project reviews with management and Project Managers to ensure contract fulfilment and approves any project deviations. Take an active role in resolving escalated issues, especially those raised by the customer. Ensure the portfolio of projects follows good methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures and that projects are closed as per contracts entered with customers Contract and claims & Procurement Management: Ensure that projects consistently apply contract and claims management methodologies, in accordance with ABB policies and contractual agreements and in interaction and close collaboration with respective functions Stakeholder relations: Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Serve as an escalation point for individual and systemic project management issues within the project execution team People leadership and development: Ensure that the area of responsibility is structured to fit the business model, sufficiently staffed with skilled resources, and directed appropriately. Guide, motivate, and develop direct and indirect reports within HR policies. Oversees competency assessments and ensures that the project staff are licensed and certified appropriately.
