Job Overview


The HVAC Release Engineer – Electric Compressors is responsible for the development and validation of the automotive e-compressors. The candidate will ensure the e-compressors meet packaging requirements and performance objectives and will coordinate development with other functional areas such as Powertrain, Aero/Thermal, Controls and suppliers.

The candidate will maintain a component and sub-system DVP&R, support and keep up to date with component bench testing, simulation, drive-cell and static cell test results as well as perform data analysis and establish proper corrective actions as required. Need to lead virtual team to design and perform 1D simulation analysis of e-compressors that will meet heat rejection, noise and durability performance. The candidate will also support pilot build process at the assembly plant for development and installation of HVAC components.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited program or equivalent program

  • Minimum THREE (3) years in electrified HVAC or compressor design/development. Other related design experience (Engine cooling, Aero-Thermal)

  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)

  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)

  • Experience on hybrid and/or electric vehicles desired

  • Experience with 1D simulation tools and CFD analysis

  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)

  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)

  • Automotive assembly plant experience

  • Self-starter and motivated to produce results

Good communication skills

  • DFSS and/or Red-X knowledge is a plus

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Engineering or MBA

  • Experience with Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) and robust design processes

  • Reactive training
