Salary:$45,000 - $57,000 DOE

Purchasing Specialist.

Description:

The Purchasing Specialist performs multiple duties related to procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary to provide for successful District operations.

Duties Include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform job functions within Federal, State, and local laws related to purchasing/contracts and guidelines.
  • Implement and utilize Purchase Order system for District purchases.
  • Communicate regularly with staff in submittal and processing of purchase request forms.
  • Work closely with staff to prepare purchase specifications.
  • Identify qualified vendors, analyze quotes, and process orders.
  • Coordinate purchasing services, including, but not limited to furnishings, office equipment, office supplies, vehicles, other capital equipment, and other miscellaneous products and supplies.
  • Coordinate other administrative services, including, but not limited to, District property insurance, warranties, surplus property disposal, and external leases on District property.
  • Investigate complaints and concerns related to contracted services and recommend corrective action.
  • Act as back-up for other Finance Department staff functions with associated cross-training.
  • Other business duties as needed or required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, logistics, supply management or related field
  • Knowledge of State and District purchasing regulations/guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with co-workers and vendors.
  • Knowledge of automated systems and software for purchasing, contracts, and other types of acquisition methods.
  • Skill in the use of computer software packages such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Valid Class C Texas Drivers License or ability to transfer from another state.

Work Environment:

This position primarily requires work in an indoor professional office work environment.
