Team Leader, Treasury Operations

This position is in the Southern Company Services Treasury organization; located at the Southern Company Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

The Treasury Operations team is responsible for setting the cash positions of all Southern Company subsidiaries, sending wire payments and ensuring daily funding of accounts. Additionally, the group is responsible for all bank account management and the accounting and reporting of the Southern Company and subsidiary debt portfolios.

Job Responsibilities (will have a subset of the following)

This position will be responsible for all the debt structures accounting in addition to maintaining standard and ad hoc reporting in the Treasury Management System. Customer service is a top priority with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with business partners.

  • Direct supervisor for two cash analysts, responsible for approximately half of all East region companies

  • Shared managerial responsibilities for all cash payment activities on a rotational basis (required to have separation of duties and appropriate support for all managerial activities)

  • Lead responsible for all debt management and reporting in Treasury Management System, including feed to ERP system

  • Lead responsible for all ad hoc requests for all companies covered by East region

  • Lead responsible for all tax reporting requests

  • Prepare and execute timely and accurate monthly/quarterly/yearly reporting for deal accounting (debt, investment, other financing)

  • Identify and resolve issues related to cash or cash transactions with internal partners or bank service providers as appropriate

  • Day to day contact with banks and affiliates for operational issues, or transaction investigation and resolution of inquiries regarding transactions

  • Seek to ensure proper retention of electronic documents, business confidential information, and actively demonstrate an understanding of the need to safeguard competitive information in both electronic and non-electronic formats

  • Monitor ACH Debit transactions and exceptions

  • Cross-train for various internal roles within the department, and provide back-up coverage for those roles as needed

  • Develop and maintain Data Visualization/Business Intelligence dashboards highlighting working capital balances, cash flows and other metrics.

  • May need to remain on call during key business transactions when wire transfers are time sensitive

  • Prepare timely and accurate month-end and year-end support files for annual audits

  • Support Treasury Department on various projects or requirements as necessary

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or other related analytical field

  • 3-7 years of experience in accounting, corporate finance, or treasury

  • Must have experience with Microsoft office products

Additional Characteristics of Preferred Candidates

  • Management experience is a plus, but not required

  • Certified Treasury Professional accreditation is a plus

  • Experience in an Accounting role is a plus

  • Experience with a treasury management system is a plus
