Surgical Tech Coordinator / Operating Room

Shift: Full Time 6:40a-3:10p

Location: Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, 5665 Peachtree Dunwoody Road NE

Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital OR has 15 rooms and 1 hybrid room focusing on endo/vascular.Our General Operating Room specialty areas include General Surgery, ENT, Robotics, Ophthalmology (Corneal; Retina Cell transplants), Complex GYN, Complex Ortho/Spine, Thoracic, and Vascular. This role will support Urology/Cystoscopy service line.

This position is full time, 6:40a-3:10p Monday through Friday, plus on-call and weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

We are seeking a capable Surgical Tech Coordinator / Operating Room who will assist surgeons and nurses with patients, equipment preparation, aseptic technique and surgical procedure in the operating room.

  • Responsible for assisting with planning, implementing, and coordinating services and activities associated with the service line. Act as a clinical liaison and assists with overseeing the technical and clinical aspects of the specified service line.

  • Assist in identifying staff education needs based on clinical situations and recommends appropriate in-service. Work with surgeons, nurses, first assistants and scrub techs to streamline and standardize the service line to improve efficiency and quality of care.

  • Ensure supplies to support the program are available and in good working order. Assist with maintaining inventory/par levels and assist in keeping preference cards up-to-date.

  • Comfortable with managing multiple responsibilities, including clinical, administrative, educational, and promotional components.

  • Ability to complete other duties as necessary to support the operating room, including, but not limited to, scrubbing and support for other service lines as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program OR equivalent experience.

  • 2 years' surgical tech experience. 1-2 years’ experience within specific service line preferred.
