Home Depot Senior Software Engineer (Remote) in Atlanta, Georgia

Position Purpose:

The Sr. Software Engineer is responsible for independently developing and consistently redesigning/refactoring a product to adapt to our customers and associate's needs. As a Sr. Software Engineer in the Non-Statistical Ordering space, you will be leading a dynamic team of engineers while creating, deploying, and supporting production applications on Pivotal's Cloud Foundry. In addition, Sr. Software Engineers will be involved in product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning and production monitoring as well as mentoring less experienced engineers. For this team, you will want to be a leader with a growth mindset focused on future cloud migrations from legacy systems to Google Cloud Platform. You will be leading the team while helping the Principal Engineers with future design thought, so knowledge of design patterns and best practices is in cloud migrations is a plus.

Travel Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 -6 years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with Spring Boot:

  • Proficiency in building and maintaining microservices using Spring Boot.

  • Strong understanding of Spring ecosystem components such as Spring Security, Spring Data, and Spring Cloud.

  • Front-End Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of React.js for building dynamic, responsive web applications.

  • Experience with state management libraries such as Redux or Context API.

  • Familiarity with front-end build tools and bundlers like Webpack, Babel, or ESBuild.

  • Distributed Systems Experience:

  • Experience designing and maintaining distributed systems, with a focus on scalability, performance, and fault tolerance.

  • Knowledge of event-driven architecture, message brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka), and pub/sub patterns.

  • Cloud-Native Development:

  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF).

  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure services such as logging, monitoring, and scaling in PCF.

  • Containerization and Orchestration:

  • Knowledge of Docker containers and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, particularly for deployment in cloud environments.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.

  • Database Management:

  • Proficiency in working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).

  • Experience with data caching strategies using tools like Redis or Memcached.

  • Security and Compliance:

  • Strong understanding of security best practices for distributed systems, including authentication (OAuth2, JWT) and data encryption.

  • Familiarity with compliance standards relevant to cloud-based systems (e.g., SOC2, GDPR).

  • Testing and Quality Assurance:

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks for both front-end (Jest, Enzyme) and back-end (JUnit, Mockito).

  • Proficiency in ensuring high code quality through test-driven development (TDD) and continuous integration practices.

  • Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Strong communication skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate with other stakeholders on architecture and design decisions.

  • Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues within a distributed system, particularly related to performance, scaling, and integration challenges.

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
