Abt Associates Senior Analyst -- Evaluation Reviewer in Atlanta, Georgia

Opportunity

Abt Associates is seeking a qualified Analyst and or Senior Analyst to support the Social and Economic Policy Division in Rockville, MD, Cambridge, MA, Durham, NC, Atlanta GA, or as a full-time telecommuter.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide subject-matter expertise in areas related to children, youth, and families. Priority areas include: child welfare, parenting, mental health, substance use prevention, post-secondary education, and early childhood

  • Apply quality standards to research included in systematic reviews or meta-analysis, such as the What Works Clearinghouse standards, Prevention Services Clearinghouse standards or Cochrane Collaboration-style risk of bias assessments.

  • Work in team settings by communicating respectfully, meeting deadlines, and exercising initiative to resolve complex challenges. Also work independently, completing complex tasks under indirect supervision where there is latitude for independent action and decision-making

  • Manage moderately complex research, evaluation, and/or technical assistance tasks (examples include, but are not limited to: coordinating timelines, overseeing budgets, supervising staff, communicating with clients)

  • Assist with proposal writing and/or management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated technical expertise related to experimental and quasi-experimental designs for program evaluation in the social sciences. Can include relevant coursework and experience with conducting randomized or quasi-experimental program evaluation studies.

  • Brings technical expertise related to systematic reviews and/or meta-analysis, such as calculating and working with effect sizes of different types (e.g., standardized mean differences, odds ratios, etc.), and analytic techniques for meta-analysis.

  • What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) group design standards reviewed certification highly desirable but not required. WWC Group Design Training Certificate of Completion desirable, but not required.

  • Experience with quantitative analysis, data collection, and reporting and technical skills with software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Stata, R)

  • Has successfully mentored less experienced staff.

  • Experience translating research and making it accessible to practice, policy, and/or government audiences (e.g., writing briefs or reports, presenting to clients, sharing results at meetings or conferences).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Analyst: Bachelor’s Degree + Three years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree

  • Senior Analyst: Bachelor’s Degree + Five years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Three years of relevant experience, or PhD

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $56,000 to $110,000 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
