Scope of Work: Freelance Product Development and Production Manager

Maternity Leave

Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work

The freelance Product Development & Production Manager will have the following responsibilities during this temporary assignment:

Development

• Kick-off & Sample Requests

• Product Development: Oversee the kick-off of new product categories, collaborating with internal teams to define product specifications and timelines.

• Sample Coordination: Manage on-time delivery of samples for all categories, including shaping expectations for delivery times and quality standards.

Product Testing & Approval

• Testing Protocols: Oversee testing processes to ensure all products meet performance, quality, and regulatory standards.

• Coordinate with Testing Teams: Work with internal and external testing partners to ensure timely execution of testing for all categories (including fabric, fit, wash, and construction).

Costing & Price Negotiation

• Costing Management: Analyze and manage the costing for each product during the development process to ensure it aligns with margin goals.

• Final Price Negotiations: Work closely with vendors to negotiate final prices, ensuring that all products are delivered within budget.

• Track Cost Adjustments: Monitor any cost adjustments throughout the development cycle and communicate changes to all relevant teams.

Vendor Management

• Coordinate with Vendors: Maintain effective communication with vendors and factories, ensuring production timelines and quality standards are met.

• Track Vendor Performance: Manage factory performance, ensuring that all production deadlines are met and any issues are quickly addressed.

Cross-Functional Team Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with teams to ensure that product approvals, sample reviews, and production deadlines are met according to the planned schedule.

Performance tracking and reporting

• Weekly meetings with the relevant manager.

  Requirements

Given the specialized and time-sensitive nature of these responsibilities, it is essential to have a freelance Product Development and Production Manager to cover during maternity leave. This role requires expertise in product development, cost management, testing, and vendor negotiations. By bringing in a freelance professional to cover these tasks, we can ensure that all production processes continue seamlessly and that our key deliverables stay on track without interruption.

Timeline

• Start Date: 2/24/25

• Deadlines: On-going deliverables and deadlines as per the company calendar. The relevant manager will own weekly check-ins ensuring deadlines are being met.

• Firm project end date: 8/1/25 (estimating)
