This position supports the research program in management post-award financial activities for research projects conducted at Northside Hospital. The primary function of the Research Billing Specialist is to review all research patient care items and services against a Medicare Coverage Analysis (MCA) and to segregate the charges by the applicable payor type. This role is based in the Central Research Department and supports multiple inpatient and outpatient practices. This role will manage research billing for oncology, cardiology, critical care and several other disease areas. This individual works closely with the Research Financial Analysts and Research Accountant.
This position is in-office at our Atlanta campus.
Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, accounting, public health or relevant field of study or five (5) years of research, financial analysis, billing, coding or relevant experience. a. Relevant experience includes Study Coordinator financial management experience.
It is highly preferred that the individual have an understanding of Medicare billing rules and functional knowledge of essential National Coverage Decisions and the new CMS Clinical Research Policy.
Effective professional communication skills; ability to communicate with others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner.
Strong attention to detail and ability to adhere to policies and procedures.
Effective organizational skills, effective follow-through and commitment to excellence.
Knowledge of key research financial regulations regarding research (e.g., FDA / OHRP / ORI / DHHS / NIH) preferred.
Proven track record in customer service, attention to detail, and problem solving.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Must be flexible and adaptable, conditions and environment are unpredictable and change frequently
