Information Technology is seeking an individual to be responsible for leading the data architecture, business intelligence and analytics teams within the IT organization to provide information strategy and analytic support to Delta’s business units.

This individual will be responsible for leading a team to provide data and analytic support for Delta’s business units.

Primary Functions:

  • Institute a programmatic approach for enterprise information management to identify, prioritize and execute the data and analytic initiatives with clear line of sight to enterprise strategies and business outcomes.

  • Help enable Delta’s AI strategy collaborating with IT and business teams engaged on AI in the broader organization. Support enterprise AI initiatives with a strong and ready for AI, data infrastructure and development teams that can partner with data scientists to create industry leading AI tools.

  • Drive the development and deployment of the enterprise's data and analytics platform for digital business. Lead strategy and the development of data and analytics products. To support these endeavors, collaborate with peer organizations to assure digital products are released on time, on budget and with high quality.

  • Work with the Chief Architect in IT to develop, publish and maintain the corporate information architecture and a roadmap for its future development that matches and supports business needs.

  • Identify and standardize the use and governance of data and analytics in support of the enterprise's business strategy. This includes the governance of data and algorithms used.

  • Work with CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) on instituting on regulatory and compliance programs related to data and analytics assets.

  • Work with digital and strategy organizations to execute data governance policy creation and compliance.

  • Create a community of practice around analytics and data science across the enterprise. Foster the corporate exploitation of big data and sourced data as well as the liberation of dark data, using a combination of open source, cloud and social era tools and techniques for data analytics, machine learning, mining, and visualization.

  • Develop, manage, and control the annual operating budget and manage significant capital budgets around transformation efforts.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Ten or more years of business experience, ideally in business management, legal, financial or information or IT (Information Technology) management — recently at or near the executive level. Broad business experience internally and within the vertical industry is desired.

  • Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.

  • Proven data literacy — the ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options. The ability to translate among the languages used by executive, business, IT and quant stakeholders.

  • Experience in taking large initiatives to production that build off ML or other AI techniques. Early wins in Generative AI usage a positive but not required.

  • Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes, and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards.

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Experience in aviation or adjacent industries required.

  • Strong analytics background and an ability to create practical analytic solutions to aviation problems.

  • Strong background and understanding of aviation capabilities, with demonstrated expertise in this space in a large-scale setting.

  • Skilled at sizing and prioritizing analytics opportunities based on estimated impact, ease of implementation and potential downside risk.

  • Experience with cloud-based data analytics toolset & solutions for developing data products and services.

  • Experience designing, building, and managing large scale ML (Machine Learning) and analytics platforms.

  • Exceptionally strong ability to communicate complex technology concepts to executives.

  • Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills; able to work across business lines at senior levels to influence and effect change to achieve common goals.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists; the ability to sell ideas and process internally at all levels, including the board and investors.

  • Proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; building teams and consensus; getting things done through others not directly under his/her supervision; working ethically and with integrity.

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
