Job Summary:

The Manager, Finance Process Enablement will report to the Director, Finance Process Enablement, and is responsible for proactively leading and supporting highly visible, enterprise-wide programs and projects across Newell Brands (“Company”) or Finance and Accounting specific projects and priorities driving process improvement, supporting key functional stakeholders. The role is responsible for identifying and supporting initiatives and special projects, management of project resources, and progress tracking of initiatives from initiation through implementation. The successful candidate must be able to effectively lead and implement complex cross-functional initiatives that ensure the success of global and functional programs. The role is also responsible for developing and leading a program to ensure best practices and process improvements are applied across the Newell organization, supporting the efforts of global process harmonization, particularly in Accounting and Finance.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategy – Works with functional area leaders identifying areas of opportunity to standardize, globally harmonize, and/or simplify and automate processes/controls across Newell Brands and within the Accounting Center of Excellence. Helps lead best practice identification and drives standardization with business or functional feedback. Providing input to the budget process on the benefits realization of special initiatives/projects, when applicable.

Program and Project Planning - Works with applicable Business units and/or Functional areas in the generation of the business case(s) and statement(s) of work to define project or initiative requirements; engages IT and other functions as necessary. Works closely with project stakeholders, develops integrated milestone and project activity level plans, including any change management activities and clearly articulated measures of success.

Project Execution - Handles key strategic and day-to-day operational responsibilities of cross-functional project teams. Leads or supports project or functional teams in driving consistent, high-quality outputs with clear values and high impact for the enterprise. Manages project initiatives on the critical path to completion. Identifies, manages, and helps resolve interdependencies, issues, and conflicts within and between various business units and/or functions. Proactively identifies key risks and ensures appropriate risk mitigation plans are in place. Plays an active role in managing internal and external stakeholder expectations.

Project / Portfolio Reporting - Uses simple, effective tracking and reporting mechanisms for use by project teams and senior leadership. Monitors and reports on progress, Return on Investment, performance, risks and integration across Newell including all key stakeholders. Tracks and monitors project milestones and deliverables. Conducts postmortems and creates recommendations to identify successful project elements and areas of continuous improvement.

Key Qualifications:

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly desired; Postgraduate Degree a plus, but not required

  • 5+ years of experience demonstrating progressive responsibility in Accounting or Finance with increasing focus and desire to work on process improvement

  • Increasing experience with global processes and systems

  • Working knowledge of key financial & non-financial processes

  • Experience working with SAP required; S4/Hana strongly preferred

  • Increasing experience in leading process design and continuous improvement efforts across a global organization

  • Demonstrated successful participation in program initiatives with transformation breadth in large-scale organizations

  • Excellent verbal and written and communication skills

  • Personal presence and ability to communicate effectively

  • Strong influencer and demonstrated cross-functional collaborator, able to build relationships and work strategically and tactically across business units and or functions

  • Ability to work with all levels of the Company

  • Strong execution ability and a sense of urgency. Frequent decision-making surrounding changes to project timescales and deliverables in consultation with all key stakeholders

  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment and to work and collaborate with others, to consider the needs of all affected groups, and to build/leverage relationships across functions and organizations to achieve business results

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft tools

  • Experience working for a global company

PREFERRED

  • Experience working in Accounting roles

  • Experience within a global Consumer Packaged Goods environment

  • Experience in creating project charters, and/or detailed project plans, preferred even on a smaller scale

  • Experience in Six Sigma or LEAN preferred; otherwise willingness to receive company-sponsored training required

  • Knowledge and experience with change management as part of project management

  • Working knowledge of key financial and non-financial processes for global Consumer Packaged Goods
