Abt Associates Lead Sustainable Transportation Principal Associate (Remote Flexibility) in Atlanta, Georgia

Opportunity

Abt Associates seeks a senior leader to grow our sustainable transportation practice. This position will be focused on working with Abt staff to grow our portfolio of work related to sustainable transportation with key clients, including the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation, and state and local governments. Key areas of focus include electric vehicle planning, clean transportation systems, and environmental, health, and equity analyses.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts to identify, qualify, and capture new business opportunities related to sustainable transportation.

  • Work with Abt technical teams to produce high-quality technical work.

  • Provide technical expertise to clients in areas related to clean transportation.

  • Cultivate sustained client relationships.

  • Lead efforts to improve Abt’s reputational capital through publications, social media, and customer engagement.

Qualifications

  • Prior consulting experience or experience working as a federal government employee.

  • Understanding of federal clients, such as Department of Transportation or Environmental Protection Agency.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, including setting priorities and adapting to changes in a time-sensitive, deliverable driven workplace. 

  • A Master's degree in transportation studies, urban planning, public policy, or related area and 10 years of related experience.

  • Established network of professional contacts in the sustainable transportation community.

  • Experience and subject matter expertise in transportation sector matters, such as bike and pedestrian strategies, transit, active transportation, electric vehicles and electric vehicle supply equipment, transportation planning and modeling, demand management, transportation equity, fleet conversions and alternative fuels.

  • Broad professional expertise and interest, across various energy, environmental, climate, infrastructure, and other issues in the transportation sector.

  • Experience with project management and client management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree + Fifteen years of relevant experience, or PhD + Ten years of relevant experience
