A Day in the Life:

At Medtronic, the Laser Ablation Surgery Consultant II provides regional and national clinical and technical support and expertise for MRI guided laser ablation product lines during surgical procedures. This role builds on new business and maintains relationships with key accounts and is a primary point of contact for surgery support scheduling and advanced clinical issues arising in familiar and assigned accounts. This individual will also represent the company in accordance with its policies and in areas assigned, maintaining an awareness of local competitive conditions and report back promptly to the Laser Ablation Surgery Manager.

This is a field based role.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Provides advanced level clinical and technical expertise for the area for all assigned product lines

  • Provides product installation/new user educational support for physicians and hospital employees in area on clinical and technical aspects of products on multiple MRI platforms

  • Covers regions where assigned or as needed in performing surgical coverage and evaluations for the laser ablation product line on multiple MRI platforms and stereotactic methodsCoordinates and executes with regions in opening, installing, and certifying new centers to perform laser ablation surgery

  • Coordinates and executes with regions in performing annual preventive maintenance and product repairs

  • Represents Medtronic during surgical evaluations and demonstrations involving products by attending cases

  • Establishes successful relationships in existing and new key accounts in the area. Provides timely information to sales management regarding customer concerns, issues and market opportunities

  • Resolves advanced clinical issues arising from key accounts in the area of laser ablation surgery

  • Troubleshoots advanced clinical, imaging, networking and technical issues

  • Maintains effective relationships across cross functional groups including sales, marketing, education, operations, market development and sales training

  • Other activities assigned by supervisor

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, please ensure these minimum requirements are evident on your resume.

  • High School Diploma or GED AND a minimum of 6 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or

  • Associate degree with a minimum 4 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of clinical or medical sales experience.

Nice to Have

  • Strong understanding of MRI imaging for surgical applications, frame based stereotactic surgery experience utilizing CRW /Leksell or frameless surgical navigation systems

  • Previous surgery coverage experience

  • Strong verbal and instructional skills

  • Surgical MRI applications, surgical navigation, or surgical robotics experience

  • Functional computer skills including; Microsoft Office, other applications and Internet

  • Demonstrated communication skills instructing others on application of products in real time

  • Degree focused on Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Sciences or Technical Discipline

  • AART or MRIT Certification

Physical Job Requirements

• Required to function using healthcare universal precautions to minimize exposure to infectious disease and radiation

• Ablity to serve as the primary resource for scheduled and unscheduled clinical events,periodically required to work weekends,evenings and nights and may be required to engage in overnight travel within own district or neighboring districts

• Ability to work efficiently and autonomously with little direction when outside of clinical events

• Ability to attend national meetings, district meetings and other training as requested

• Ability to wear a 7-9 lbs protective lead apron for extended periods of time in the operating room

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

• Ability to sitting, standing, and/or walking for 8+ hours per day

• Ability to bend/stoop, squat and balance frequently

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in relation to travel and operating a personal computer.

Must have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy. In addition, your driving record will be reviewed and will be considered as part of your application. Must be able to drive/travel approximately 75% of the time within assigned territory and may require overnight travel.

In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), which provides the opportunity to earn significant incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your goals. Learn more about total rewards here .

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
