Microsoft Corporation Group Manager, Finance Compliance Lead in Atlanta, Georgia

This high-impact people manager role reports to the Finance Director and is part of the Operation Controllership Leadership team. This role leads a team of seasoned compliance professionals to drive financial compliance forward across the large number of areas supported by Operations Finance.

A successful candidate is highly collaborative, working in close partnership with Microsoft Business Operations, C+E Engineering, Corporate Accounting, Microsoft’s regional operating centers, and Operations Finance teams in the US, Ireland, and Singapore, and the Area & Subsidiary compliance network around the world.



  • Lead a team of professionals to design control infrastructure focusing on quote-to-cash and revenue recognition cycles. Support audits and guide remediation efforts and communicate results to business partners and executives.

  • Actively influence design and fulfilment of launches and projects to ensure that new processes, capabilities, and launches are financially compliant with compliance built-in by design.

  • Engage international stakeholders to ensure processes and controls comply with local regulations and statutory requirements, provide feedback to Corp and drive improvement.

  • Influence for compliant decisions and prioritization with large and varied groups of stakeholders, including senior leaders across business, engineering, operations. Evaluate new risk pipeline, optimize controls and monitoring, and use data-driven insights to transform compliance processes and solutions.

  • Actively contribute to Microsoft Compliance Community to learn and share insights and best practices.

  • Follow Microsoft’s management philosophy of Model, Coach, Care, creating an inclusive work environment for the team and supporting career growth and development. Effectively communicate team vision and goals, while proactively managing team through priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field AND 6+ years of financial compliance experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Finance or related field AND 8+ years of financial compliance experience.

  • 15+ years of accounting or finance experience

  • Knowledge of SOX, quote-to-cash process, and international finance

  • Professional accounting certification such as CPA or equivalent.

  • Experience in leading Finance or operational transformation projects and developing data insights preferred

The successful candidate will also exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Demonstrated drive and agility, including ability to effectively manage multiple projects, dynamically shift prioritization, and work effectively against multiple/competing deadlines and priorities
