Atlanta Technical College FT Associate Dean for Cyber and Related Programs in Atlanta, Georgia

The Full-Time Associate Dean of Cyber and Related Technologies reports to and supports the Dean of Business and Public Service Technologies and actively works with division faculty, deans and VPAAs as part of the Academic Leadership Team. This role is responsible for the coordination, administration, and operations of the Cyber and Related Technologies Department to include the Computer Programming AAS, Cybersecurity AAS, Database Specialist AAS, Networking Specialist AAS, as well as the embedded diplomas and technical certificates of credit. The Associate Dean provides leadership and oversight to ensure the effective functioning of the department. This role involves curriculum development, faculty supervision, and program advocacy. The ideal candidate should hold a masters degree in computer science or a related field and possess several years of industry experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Effectively teach and facilitate learning, utilizing a variety of delivery modes and learning theories.
  • Assist with orientating and observing new instructors as well as training current instructors.
  • Determines the staffing needs within CIS department and manages the recruitment, evaluation, and ongoing support of all faculty and academic staff positions within the department.
  • Provide and coordinate support, guidance, and direction to students with registration, attendance, advisement, and career counseling.
  • Coordinates the ongoing assessment and evaluation of departmental student learning and program outcomes.
  • Maintain existing partnerships and community relationships and establish new collaborative working relationships with community organizations, business and industry partners, and educational institutions relevant to the department programs.
  • proactively promote innovative partnerships to meet workforce needs.
  • Works to ensure the consistent exercise of college and TCSG academic policies, procedures, rules, regulations and other criteria or guidelines across all campuses.
  • Manages and oversees financial/budget operations of the CIS department.
  • Assists faculty in addressing all aspects of verifying program learning outcomes, including identification, review, revision, measurement, and analysis of said outcomes.
  • Coordinates with the dean to assist faculty in attainment and continuance of program-specific accreditation under assigned supervision.
  • Works with program faculty on TCSG curriculum review processes; recommends to dean any current curriculum changes, program additions, and program terminations.
  • Participates in, as needed, all program enrollment processes, including registration, drop/add, withdrawals, etc.
  • Compiles program statistics such as enrollment, in-quarter and between-quarter retention rates, graduation rate, and placement rate to ensure program viability.
  • Serves on appropriate college standing and ad hoc committees.
  • Works with the colleges web master to ensure program information on the web page is accurate and up to date.
  • Works with the dean in handling personnel issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Information Technology, Computer Technology, or a related field
  • Familiarity with computer hardware and software, including operating systems and virtual machines
  • College teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Certifications (CompTia, C++, CISCO, CISSP, AWS, etc.)
  • Experience with curriculum development and review
  • Experience with program advisory committees
