How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

Delta’s Total Rewards team is looking for a Director, Global Benefits. This individual will have strong leadership skills, be a recognized expert and authority in employee benefits including healthcare, retirement, disability and leave management programs as well as high-level accountability. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for continuing to design, develop, implement and governance the various domestic and international’s benefits programs while focusing on the ongoing strategy within Delta’s Total Rewards’ Center of Excellence. This role will be someone who can lead, encourage, and motivate a team so as to continue fostering a high performance and motivated culture. The role will report to the Vice President – Total Rewards.

Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):

  • In alignment with the Delta’s mission and our total rewards strategy, develop and evolve an innovative benefit program strategy.

  • Continuously review, analyze and evolve the design of the benefit program portfolio based on feedback from employees and business leaders as well as other competitive market insights. Make positive employee experience a priority, while at the same time prudently managing the investments that Delta is making in these benefit programs.

  • Partner closely with the Delta HR Service Delivery team and other external partners/vendors to implement program changes and effectively administer benefit programs.

  • Keep current on leading practices and developments in the design of healthcare, retirement, disability and leave management programs.

  • Authors benefit program policies and procedures and monitors the delivery of specific programs and policies.

  • Working closely with the Corporate Communications team, develop and deploy a strategy to communicate and educate Delta people about the programs available to them.

  • Lead a team of approximately 15 to 20 people with expertise across Delta’s benefit portfolio.

  • Facilitate open communication across divisions and within unit.

  • Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in an HR related field, or equivalent job experience.

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience within HR or business administration functions, preferably handling performance development.

  • Demonstrates ability to communicate and present complicated information effectively and efficiently, selecting the appropriate message for the audience.

  • Ability to build strong relationships across a broad spectrum and level of employees.

  • (If transferring internally) Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.

  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.

  • Specific experience leading benefits-related transformation initiatives within a Fortune 500 Company.
