Opportunity:

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Oracle Data Developer to support the Digital and Data Services Division. Relevant experience sought for this position includes requirements development; data investigation, cleaning, and harmonization; database and application documentation development, and responding to system user’s requests. This role primarily manages data in Oracle and troubleshoots data issues, including running queries, and performing updates to the structure of the database and editing records in the database.

Experience in programming SQL queries and PL/SQL procedures in Oracle is required and working knowledge of APEX and the Amazon AWS database and application server environments is a plus. The position will include supporting several ongoing projects, working with more senior programmers, substantive experts, and research leads. Candidate should demonstrate a willingness to seek novel solutions to technology and business problems and the flexibility to acquire the necessary skills for implementation.

Familiarity in working with DOD data systems or other government data systems a plus.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Write Oracle SQL scripts and procedures to clean, harmonize, and process Oracle datasets

  • Independently investigate data issues and collaborate with senior programmers on solutions

  • Manage and support helpdesk issues related to ongoing projects

  • Ability to listen, understand, and be responsive to the client needs and priorities

  • Create database and application documentation

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple project tasks projects or workstreams simultaneously

  • Work directly with client to understand requirements, challenges, and create solutions.

  • Ability to appropriately manage expectations regarding scope, schedule, and budgetary parameters

  • Ability to pick up additional skills quickly

Preferred Skills / Prerequisites:

  • Oracle Database

  • APEX

  • SQL and PL/SQL

  • Amazon AWS RDS and EC2 environments

  • Software development tools like Jira and Confluence

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree + Five years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Three years of relevant experience, or PhD

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $91,408.75 to $146,254.01 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
