Please review the following job description:

Responsible for coordinating and driving results for all projects related to the larger Portfolio Management team such as Regulatory Reviews, Credit Reviews, Audit, and ad hoc projects. Project management tasks include identifying appropriate stakeholders, defining timeframes, communicating project status with all levels of management, etc. Ensures projects are completed timely and within budget (if applicable). • Responsible for leading a team of assigned Portfolio Specialist teammates to ensure the system of record accurately reflects portfolio management activities. Leads the day-to-day operation of the designated team, focused on consistent execution of processes, related activities and behaviors. Assumes overall responsibility for all results within the team. Includes strategic decision making around structure of the team, hiring and recruiting, training need and development, system enhancements, etc. Responsible for executing strategic changes. Actively participates in, and may lead, action forces, projects, etc. aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness of the portfolio management organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensures the development and retention of engaged, motivated teammates who are executing critical portfolio management operational processes through regular 1x1 conversations, training, coaching and mentoring as well as inspection. Demonstrates leadership in developing and enhancing strong partnerships with key stakeholders across the organization. 30%

  2. Owns all strategic and ad hoc projects which affects the larger Portfolio Management team. Lead strategic initiatives to ensure consistency of processes, cross-disciplinary collaboration, training. Interact with various stakeholder groups, including Credit Review, Compliance, and others in connection with responsibilities 50%

  3. Develops reporting, tools, playbooks, templates and/or guidance necessary to support implementation of new processes and continuing portfolio management. 10%

  4. Manages the teams internal and external portfolio reviews - Credit Review, Internal Audit, SNC, and FRB exams. 10%

  5. Span of Control (include # direct reports): Span of control generally includes 8-15 direct reports. Partners and interaction points include Line of Business, Credit Risk, Credit Risk Review, Clients, Technology, Compliance, etc.

  6. Decision-Making and Autonomy: PMTL has high degree of autonomy in decisions; has oversight and accountability for all activities within team.

  7. Problem Complexity: Very complex

  8. Leadership / Influencing / Negotiating / Persuading: Yes, teammates in this position are required to exercise an independent point of view and provide recommendations to appropriate decision makers.

  9. Project or Program Management: Yes. This position runs ad hoc projects generally associated with regulatory, risk, and compliance issues.

  10. Nature and Area of Impact, including Risk: Yes, teammates in this position are required to execute with an independent point of view, make decisions, and provide recommendations as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 10+ years of experience in financial services with experience in project management, financial analysis, and strategy development.

  2. Leadership experience with the ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and mange and build relationships with leaders and team members in geographically dispersed team environment

  3. Subject Matter Expert level understanding of compliance and risk implications and portfolio management operations. Mastery level proficiency with MS Office Desktop applications. Strong interpersonal skills and solid written/verbal communication are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Masters degree preferred. 10+ years of experience in commercial lending, portfolio management and/or risk and compliance. Management/Leadership experience.

  2. Mastery of SunTrust Bank operating systems inclusive of COMPASS and other Commercial applications (i.e. MRA, salesforce.com, nCino)
