Abt Associates Business Analyst in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Summary

Abt Associates is currently seeking a Business Analyst. This role will support Abt’s Digital Enterprise Platform’s Business Transformation initiatives by engaging business partners in understanding of their business needs, from clarification of a business idea or problem, to ensuring any implemented solution (business and software) meets the intended need. Work closely with business and technology partners across Abt to elicit, validate, document and prioritize desired business capabilities and requirements, modelling current/future business processes and identifying opportunities for process improvements. Contribute to the design and delivery of enterprise technology, primarily Oracle, Oracle Cloud, and other solutions aligned with business needs, priorities, and objectives of solutions. Support business transition and help to establish change.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with business stakeholders to analyze and documents their business problems

  • Researches, elicits, analyzes, validates, and documents business capabilities and requirements, ensuring that these clearly reflect true business needs, correctly representing all stakeholders.

  • Conducts/helps facilitate/participates in current/future process sessions for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow. Documents current/future business processes

  • Works collaboratively with technology team and partners to translates business needs into system/application requirements and project components to help determine solutions to business problems. If needed, assists team members in producing functional requirements for tool development.

  • Effectively manages stakeholder expectations through the lifecycle of the project (or as a representative of an operation) by

  • Engaging with business subject matter experts to incorporate usability and user interface needs when designing systems.

  • Supporting the resolution of business partner technology issues including initial grooming/triage of support tickets through analysis, prioritization, assignment, and hands-on resolution.

  • Working closely with third-party vendors including software providers, developers, hosting partners, implementation partners, and consultant

  • Serving as knowledgeable business resource to systems and internal business partners in all phases of the development and implementation of new systems and process enhancements. Analyzes data requirements.

  • Identifying and resolving problems.

  • Documenting risks and issues and mitigation plans.

  • Developing test plans and tests of new developments and enhanced processes

  • Partnering with internal IT infrastructure and IT Security teams to validate ERP solutions are IT and security policy compliant.

  • Documents project and enhancement work in support of change control process and for future use by Enterprise Platforms team and its partners.

  • Facilitation: Ability to shape and guide the process of group working sessions so that to meet the goals and accomplish the objective of the session. A history of facilitation and presentation skills

  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to influence stakeholders, collaborating, listening, and working closely to determine and document acceptable solutions

  • Documentation: Ability to deliver a range of documents (e.g. business requirement, specification, testing documents) clearly and concisely such that they are easy to understand.

  • Time Management: Ability to manage your time and deliverables to the business activity you need to keep up with and to communicate realistic deadlines

  • Prioritization: Ability to manage and prioritize multiple smaller projects or work streams simultaneously.

  • Agility/flexibility: Ability to be flexible about project changes and dynamically identify and mitigate risks in the moment with mid-course corrective action

  • Prior knowledge and use of business analysis techniques such as SWOT; MOST; MoSCoW; 5 WHYs; Fishbone

Technology and Application Skills:

  • Understanding and demonstrated functional experience with Oracle EBS and/or Oracle Cloud. Ability to quickly learn, comprehend and communicate the functions and capabilities of Oracle, Oracle Cloud. Prior work experience leveraging these is a plus

  • Technical Know-How of essential office tools like Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Microsoft Visio

  • Understanding and experience with project management methodologies, such as PMP and Agile/Scrum.

  • MS Project experience is a plus

  • Knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online is a plus.

  • Knowledge of hosted networks and IT security is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

The team is open to hiring at a level 2 or 3 for this position.

Level 2: Bachelor’s Degree + Two years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree

Level 3: Bachelor's Degree + Five years of relevant experience, or Master's Degree + Three years of relevant experience

The position offers an anticipated base salary of approximately $65,000 to $110,000 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographical location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
