Ford Motor Credit Company seeks an attorney to join the Legal Office, supporting Ford Credit business operations.

As a global leader in advanced mobility solutions, our outstanding team of legal professionals helps us navigate the continually changing legal and regulatory landscape. In our Office of General Counsel, you’ll be part of an organization that collaborates with outside counsel to operate as a global team and deliver world-class legal, tax and audit services to client groups throughout the company.

This role will be remote based, but hybrid (Detroit) is preferred.

What you’ll do…

  • Work collaboratively and strategically with members of the Ford Credit Legal Office and operations

  • Provide practical legal advice that demonstrates a strong understanding and application of the law to Ford Credit’s business

  • Advise Ford Credit management of legal risk, identify and implement measures to mitigate risk, and improve Company decision-making

  • Support Ford Credit’s core business while also participating on cross functional project teams

  • Draft and negotiate vendor contracts

  • Assist the Compliance team with responses to federal and state regulatory examinations by providing legal support for operation processes

  • Provide strategic advice to generate business opportunities in an evolving business environment and provide solutions that increase shareholder value

You'll have…

  • Juris Doctor (JD) Degree

  • Membership in good standing of a US state bar and meets the eligibility requirements under the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct to provide legal services to Ford Credit in Michigan

  • 3+ years of experience in a law firm or consumer financial services business or legal department

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills

  • Strong academic credentials

  • Experience with financial services legal and regulatory requirements (e.g. Dodd-Frank, TILA, Consumer Leasing Act, FCRA, SCRA, UDAAP, GLB, ECOA, and state vehicle finance and collection laws)

  • Excellent communication, negotiating and drafting skills

  • Excellent issue-spotting and analytical skills

  • Ability to function effectively and collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team

  • Strong client counseling skills, from both the legal and business perspectives, with the ability to differentiate between the two and provide sound, practical advice on complex legal matters

  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work under pressure against deadlines and deliver results

  • Flexibility to provide legal advice in a changing business and legal/regulatory environment

  • Attention to detail, continuous improvement, learning, and innovative mind set

This position is a range of salary grades 6 .
