Position Title: Associate Manager, Marketing Analytics

Location: Atlanta

Reports to: Manager, Marketing Analytics

The Marketing Analytics Associate Manager (MAAM) will work closely with the Manager, Marketing Analytics and cross functional teams within the Baby & Parenting business unit. The MAAM will act as a category expert in building and leading all reporting and analysis that assesses the industry landscape, shapes customer and category growth plans and expansion opportunities, and supports critical ad-hoc strategic initiatives. Leveraging syndicated data, shopper and consumer insights, and category and industry trends, the TAAM will provide key insights that support the development of comprehensive channel and category strategies to enable greater sell-thru, market share gains, and drive overall category growth. These insights will be distributed and leveraged across functional teams (e.g. sales, marketing, sales planning, category management, etc.) to ensure cohesive messaging and execution throughout the business unit. This position works as a strategic thought leader, imparting knowledge of the category to drive profitable business results. This position will also support the development of fact-based sell stories supporting all new product innovation by leveraging a variety of intelligence sources.

Duties and responsibilities include the following:

Specific Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Category and Channel Intelligence

  • Act as subject matter expert in assigned category and provide thought leadership to internal constituents as well as external customers

  • Build and maintain market / competitive landscape reporting tools and resources and deliver regular category and competitive assessments

  • Serve as the expert on the use of syndicated data to assist Sales, Trade, and Marketing teams in the development of strategies, tactics, and sell stories

  • Participate in select customer meetings as the credible category analytics expert

Data Management, Reporting and Analysis

  • Support all weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reporting needs related to POS and market share performance

  • Liaise with CMI on critical syndicated data sources and associated issues, which include product hierarchy development, data maintenance and accuracy, and organization-wide trainings

  • Support the build out of all analytics-based category and innovation selling stories for customer line reviews

  • Provide strategic category direction based on syndicated and HH panel data

Multi-channel Experience

  • Provide insight and perspective on the various channel dynamics and trends for relevant categories

  • Monitor channel shifting reflected in the marketplace and the associated implications

  • Form perspective on multi-channel purchasing behaviors (e.g. site to store, store to site, etc.)

Shopper Understanding

  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data (e.g. Shopper Research, POS, loyalty card information, registry, etc.) into actionable insights

  • Use knowledge of shopper and consumer to recommend optimal category assortments, flows, adjacencies, cross merch opportunities, etc.

Project Management

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines and with a variety of internal stakeholders

  • Manage flow of information and time-sensitive requests from division leadership, sales, brand marketing, etc.

  • Partner with Corporate modeling and insights team to bring predictive insights and elasticity modeling to life and inform business planning

The Candidate

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to build strong sustainable business relationships at all levels and functions of the organization and with customers and customer teams

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

  • Direct and perform analysis across a wide variety of category business issues and make fact-based recommendations

  • Must be able to link business objectives with winning growth strategies

  • Convey complex issues and explain analysis findings simply and effectively with excellent communication and presentation skills


  • Bachelor's degree (emphasis in business/marketing or related field), advanced degree a plus

  • 3-5 years of experience working with a leading CPG company (Trade or Channel Marketing, Corporate Strategy & Insights, Finance)

  • Strong analytical skills and computer software proficiency (e.g. Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)

  • Strong familiarity with syndicated data measures and software (e.g. NPD, Nielsen, IRI, Consumer Panel, etc.)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Category Management philosophies, tools and processes and proven record of success

  • Experience using analytics to develop recommendations

  • Strategic thinking, self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with aggressive deadlines

Location: GA-Atlanta with 10-20% travel
