Job Title: Assistant Brand Manager, Rubbermaid

Reports to: Brand Manager

Job Summary:

The Assistant Brand Manager, Rubbermaid Consumer will deliver brand execution support for growing segments of the Rubbermaid Brand, the #1 food storage brand in the US. He/she/they will support the Brand Team across the full spectrum of marketing activities from supporting new product development, executing marketing programs and managing the new product pipeline to forecasting, social media oversight and retailer specific item development. In addition, he/she/they will be asked for strategic support on channel and customer opportunities by leveraging marketplace point-of-sale data, consumer insights, and an understanding of the dynamic market/category trends. The Assistant Brand Manager role will support the core Food Storage Category.

This role requires excellent time management skills, the ability to quickly navigate a complex, matrixed organization, proficiency in transforming data into simple, easy to communicate tables or graphs and the ability to lead cross functional teams on time and on budget. A desire to develop a deep understanding of the consumer, customer, product, and market will be essential for success.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercialization & Portfolio Management

  • Ensures projects are delivered on-time and partners with the cross-functional team to track and monitor execution milestones

  • Develops deep understanding of the Newell internal systems, including Windchill and SAP

  • Supports the item lifecycle process including new item set up through the termination of SKUs that will be replaced by future innovation

  • Partners with the Senior Brand Manager to effectivelycreateandpresentrobustbusinesscasesthrough the gate-keeping product development processto gain executive leadership alignment.

  • Develops understanding of the Brand Foundational elements

Brand Communication

  • Supports and/or partners with Senior Brand Manager to communicatemarketingobjectives and strategiesfortheupcoming year across sub-brands,countries,andregions

  • Supportsagencies and internal teamson packaging development, mass marketing and social media

  • Tracks innovation during the trial period and reports out against key business targets

  • WorkscollaborativelywithDesignCenter partners to support regional/global design initiatives

  • Supports the Brand Manager in the preparation of selling materials to share innovation with key customers


  • Applies understandingof theconsumer to bothshort and long-term decisions

  • Educatesinternal and external partnersontheconsumer, marketplace, and roadmap for market success

  • Works with IRI platform to extract and analyze needed data

  • Understands the competitive landscape for the category and segments

Pricing & Strategy

  • Supportspricingaudits to evaluateopportunitiesand risks to the business

  • Understands and partners with the Senior Brand Manager and Brand Director to support and communicate the global brand positioning and target consumer segments

  • Understands the Customer and Channel opportunities to drive future growth

Key Qualifications:

  • Four-yearcollegedegree required

  • Business degree or internship experience at Fortune 500 company preferred

  • 1-2 years of marketing experience preferred

  • Fluent in English

  • Can lead cross functional project teams

  • Prior experienceworking in a complex, matrixenvironment preferred

  • Decision-makingskills in ambiguousenvironmentswith a biasforaction

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Tools, especially Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, effective time manager, and self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit

  • Positive attitude

  • 10-20% travel required at a future date
