Ohio University Career Development Coordinator in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

The Career Development Coordinator is a member of an integrated campus student services team who will work across their campus and the regional campus system to bring students to the world of work. The position will develop strong relationships and recruiting plans with employers in their regional campus service area. They will collaborate with regional Success Advisors and Faculty Mentors, as well as other staff in related positions at the university. Reporting to the campus Student Services Director, this position focuses on connecting students (through career coaching) to industry and function, supporting student experiential learning opportunities, and strengthening campus and community partnerships with local business and industry.

Employer and Alumni Relations: Build relationships with employers (including alumni) in their regional campus community. Outreach to local and regional companies that have established relationships with OHIO , as well as those who have not been active. Recruit organizations to participate in on-campus and virtual recruiting events, such as career fairs, information sessions, panels, and more. Work with their regional campus Dean of Campus & Community Relations to develop or strengthen partnerships that will lead to new or expanded student / alumni opportunities. Work with companies to develop employment recruiting strategies. Collaborate with the Ohio University Alumni Association to share information about employer/alumni engagement, discuss areas of need, and identify opportunities to collaborate.

Career Coaching: Conduct one-on-one career coaching with regional campus students. Develop and support on campus interview opportunities, including mock interview events. Host group coaching sessions for specific career fields. Develop/conduct workshops to help students expand their knowledge about post-graduation career opportunities with the area. Collaborate with colleagues to connect students to career information and/or opportunities beyond the geographic boundaries of the regional campus. Provide training opportunities for student organizations on their regional campus. Support career exploration needs and/or interests from local community members, including alumni, who seek stop-in career coaching services.

Career Education: Collaborate with regional faculty to integrate career information into courses and/or student experiences. Train and educate success coaches on employment trends, career exploration strategies, and local/regional employer partnerships. Develop and provide career education workshops or experiences to support community interests and/or partnerships.

Experiential Learning: Identify and/or support experiential learning opportunities, including internships, for students within the regional campus community. Collaborate with colleagues to support student interests in experiential learning opportunities that extend beyond the service area of the regional campus.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • A minimum of 3 years of work-related experience.

*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in CSP , Education/Higher Education, Communication, or related field
