Latitude, Inc. Product Mechanical Engineer in Athens, Georgia
The Product Sustaining Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing and executing product-focused continuous improvement (CI) and value engineering projects for all facets of our client’s products and components, whether produced internally or sourced from vendors.
The candidate will provide on-going engineering and technical support that follows release of requirements, specifications, and drawings for fabrication, assembly, testing, and delivery of an end-product.
The ideal candidate will have deep know-how in mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly & test processes and procedures. Building a quality assurance and management team that supports a rapidly expanding installed of electrostatic chemical dispensing machines
Providing strategic leadership for the quality team
Providing day-to-day management of the quality team and its activities
Duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Understand our client's customer expectations of and needs from a product, and ensure such understanding is embedded in the production and supply chain quality
Investigate product complaints at clinical/customer sites, perform root cause analysis of failures, and propose remediation in a timely fashion
Analyze customer feedback and product returns and generate prioritized actions to address weaknesses associated with the company's products and to capture user needs and look for opportunities to improve products
Review existing product designs to identify improvement opportunities and propose, implement and monitor effectiveness of improvements.
Build early concepts of corrective designs and thoroughly test them
Create strategy for the verification of the corrective designs, and participate in verification activities.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and production teams to perform DFMA and PRR documentation to ensure a smooth transfer from development to production
Support the supply chain team as required, to resolve vendor issues with component production
Contribute to risk management analyses such as FMEA, PFMEA and hazard analysis
Support the quality management team to ensure compliance with the quality management system and product quality standards; actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS)
Mechanical Engineering or similar undergraduate degree
7 years of industry experience
Extensive knowledge of Solid Works and proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of CAM, Ansys, and LabView software a plus
Demonstrated troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
Tenacious problem solver, organized, detail oriented
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, electro-mechanical assembly, 3D printing and sheet metal fabrication
Knowledge of ASTM standards and testing methods
Competency in mechanical analysis such as kinematics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, material strength
Mechanical aptitude including ability to use common shop tools and measurement equipment
