Latitude, Inc. Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer in Athens, Georgia

Position Summary:

  • Designs, builds, and deploys a global customer care team that supports a rapidly expanding installed of electrostatic chemical dispensing machines

  • Provides strategic leadership for the global Customer Care team

  • Provides day-to-day management of the Customer Care team that will consist of the following activities

  • Spare part supply and order management

  • Repair and retrofit operations

  • National and Strategic Account service agreement management

  • Field service (potentially embedded in customer locations)

  • Technical advice (call center)

  • Service, spare parts and repair sales and order management

  • Warranty and return administration, including campaign management

    Specific Responsibilities:

  • Studies requirements for each production process and product being supplied, determining the most efficient operations and methods to be utilized based on these requirements.

  • Applies knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical product design, materials, assembly, test and fabrication to ensure the production processes are selected

  • Develops, deploys and improves existing manufacturing and production processes and procedures by studying product requirements, and ensuring methods proposed are aligned with required production rates and product mix,

  • Works with vendors to design and provide equipment, fixture, tooling, and test stands that ensure production processes and methods are reliably and repeatably achieved

  • Assures production process quality by designing and implementing manufacturing and production processes and procedures that meet the company production and quality requirements

  • Evaluates new and existing product designs to estimate production costs, production times, or staffing requirements.

  • Continuously evaluates the manufacturing and production processes being utilized for improvement opportunities

  • Improves manufacturing and production efficiency by analyzing and designing work flows, space requirements, and equipment layouts

  • Keeps production equipment, fixtures and tooling operational by coordinating maintenance, calibration, and repair

  • Works closely with product development teams to transition new designs and product updates into production performing DFMA and FMEA analyses

  • Be a proactive member of a product engineering team contributing to team and business success

    Attributes and Competencies Required for Success:

  • Intimate knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical production and manufacturing activities and processes

  • Tenacious and self-motivated with a "can do" attitude, and a willingness to devote the time necessary to deliver on stated objectives

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, quick response, highly-variable environment

  • High attention to detail insisting on high quality and reliability work standard and processes within the team

  • Strong computer skills: financial modeling, data base analysis and web base tool usage

  • Ability to influence and interact comfortably at all levels of the organization

  • Comfortable with ambiguity

  • Sets well-defined goals and objectives, and holds team and peers accountable

  • Ability to occasionally work late shifts

    Education and Experience

  • 10+ years of previous experience as a manufacturing engineer or similar role

  • Experience working in a flow manufacturing environment with knowledge of lean production techniques and processes

  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical assembly and test methods, injection molding and metal fabrication processes, and fixture and tool design

  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques

  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems

  • Knowledge of all relevant ES&H standards regulations

  • Well-versed in relevant software (e.g. CAD, MS Office)

  • Degree in Engineering; post-graduate degree is a plus
