This position builds trusting relationships and creates the highest standard of customer service for our ADA Paratransit riders. This position serves a diverse population of people including the elderly and those with disabilities. You will be trained on the Ecolane transit scheduling system, managing and dispatching rides for clients with the drivers throughout the day. This position manages fare transactions, prepares, and maintains accurate records, and may provide day-to-day cleaning maintenance of the Astoria Transit Center grounds, facilities, and other duties contributing to the overall effectiveness of the ADA Paratransit operation. Assignments are typically determined by the natural flow of work and performed independently without close supervision and instruction. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS \' Education-High School Diploma or GED \' 2 years\' experience in clerical work \' 2 years\' experience in customer service \' Proficient in computer word processing and data entry \' Ability to read maps and understand and effectively communicate routing directions OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS \' Listen effectively and communicate in an effective and professional manner, both orally and in writing. \' Gather, analyze and interpret data and information and problem-solve and provide actions and recommendations. \' Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail, including but not limited ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations. \' Demonstrate effective organization and efficient time management skills. \' Operate a variety of office technology including but not limited to computers, keyboards, telephone lines, transit radios, copier, fax machine, Square payment method or software equivalent, Microsoft Office suite, etc. \' Perform duties in time sensitive/pressure situations. \' Perform duties with little supervision The Transportation Support Specialist position is a safety sensitive position and requires a pre-employment drug test and random testing for drug/and or alcohol.
