Position Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To operate weigh scales in accordance with company policy and procedures and in accordance with customer expectations

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurate weighing of inbound and outbound trucks

  • Organizing and handling shipping bills and posting of shipments to computerized inventories

  • Clerical duties including, but not limited to, accurately and efficiently typing shipping bills and warehouse receipts (database application), filing and various data entry assignments

  • Calculating and preparing contract invoices and billing

  • Communicating effectively and timely with other employees and customers

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the facility's operating capabilities and processes

  • Ensure all work areas, including scale house, are always organized

  • Must maintain regular and predictable attendance

  • Other duties as trained and assigned

    Position Requirements

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 6 months prior truck scale experience, preferred

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Must be able to communicate, read, comprehend and interpret written and oral communications in English

  • Must demonstrate basic math skills with the ability to perform basic math computations

  • Must demonstrate a high level of attention to detail

  • Must have good organizational skills

  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to complete projects with minimum direct supervision

  • Must be able to accept direction / supervision and work cooperatively with others

  • Must be able to interpret directions and/or instructions

  • Must be committed to total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally

  • Must be able to work with others, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details and follow work rules

  • Successful candidate subject to background check and pre-employment and random drug screens

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be capable of sitting / standing for extended periods of time

  • Must be capable of occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; frequently required to talk or hear.

  • Must have manual dexterity to operate equipment Including, but not limited to, computers, telephones, 2-way radios and calculators

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be willing and able to work varied hours, overtime and/or weekends and holidays, as needed

  • Exposure to dust and noise occasionally as work is completed in a terminal environment

  • Fast-paced environment; deadline oriented

  • This position may be subject to frequent interruptions
