About our opportunity:

The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Production Coordinator at Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville (HCCA), within the Community & Regional Entertainment Facilities Department . The HCCA is a premier event venue hosting a variety of concerts, conventions, and sporting events, providing a dynamic and vibrant atmosphere in the heart of Asheville. This position will manage technical aspects of events and facility operations within the HCCA.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supervising, directing, and evaluating assigned staff, including planning and reviewing work, and handling employee concerns

  • Organizing, prioritizing, and assigning work to meet objectives, ensuring adequate coverage and control

  • Coordinating pre-production and technical aspects of events, such as scheduling production meetings and determining resources needed

  • Managing post-production and post-event activities, including overseeing the strike and load-out of equipment

  • Ensuring the maintenance of theater systems and equipment, such as lighting, video, and sound systems

  • Maintaining inventory of production equipment and supplies, and processing invoices

  • Communicating with supervisors, subordinates, contractors, and promoters to coordinate work activities

  • Processing a variety of documentation associated with department operations, including reports, invoices, and contracts

  • Operating a variety of equipment and tools necessary to complete essential functions, such as lighting and sound equipment, scissor lift, and forklift

  • Performing other related duties as required to support production operations

Benefits:

  • Salary: $27.30 - $30.03 per hour, eligible for overtime in accordance with City Policy.

About you:

We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:

  • Associate degree in Technical Theater Production or a related field

  • Two years of experience in light and sound engineering, show production operations, or a related field

  • Forklift operator certification (must be obtained within 3 months of hire)

  • Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week; varies based on event schedule
