About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Budget and Performance Manager in the Finance and Management Services Department. The Finance and Management Services Department provides financial management and oversight in support of all city functions while adhering to the principles of leadership, customer service, quality, integrity, and collaboration.
What you’ll be doing:
Please note that the following list is not all inclusive of the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Managing the budget and performance team which is comprised of six professional level employees.
Managing and participating in development and preparation of both annual operating and multi-year capital budgets
Managing and participating in the monitoring of approved budgets for City departments
Managing and supporting a variety of complex, cross-department and financially impactful projects
Preparing a variety of budget and financial reports and presentations to City departments, City management, elected officials and the public
Manages and implements the City’s performance measurement and organizational work plan programs, including consultation with departments on the design and compilation of performance measures to support the work plan
Developing and implementing the budget for the Budget and Performance Division of the Finance and Management Department
Serving as a subject matter expert in applicable laws, regulations, principles, trends and practices relating to budget preparation, management and oversight
Other duties as assigned.
About you:

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, or a related field required; supplemented by five years of experience in budget management and performance analysis in a municipal government setting, to include lead or supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Monday - Friday; 8:30 - 5:00. Flexible Work Arrangement may be available
Full Salary Range: $88,448.49 - $132,672.74
