Job Description
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager to join our team of skilled professionals based at our IG Machine & Fibers Ltd. plant in Ashcroft, BC. This plant is a production facility that processes, color, and ship granules used for the roofing shingle. The successful candidate is an experienced, results-oriented, hands-on progressive leader, with the potential to advance within our organization who can drive synergy between technological advancements and workplace performance. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position will be responsible for coaching, educating and motivating production supervisors and coordinating activities for the maintenance department. WHEN YOU JOIN US YOU WILL BE;
Establish a high level of safety, health, & environmental compliance through communication, monitoring, training, and setting of performance standards.
Drive accountability for both results and actions of direct reports through education, motivation, documentation, and behavior-based coaching.
Facilitate root cause analyses (5 why, fishbone etc.) with Maintenance and Production departments.
S upervise salaried and unionized maintenance employees and schedule outside vendors and contractors for work requirements.
Prepare recommendations for major repair, replacement, upgrade and new processes; Ensure proper documentation and complete reports (Standard Operating Procedures, checklists, audits, work orders, spreadsheets, metrics, incident investigations etc. ).
Coordinate weekly downtime, plant shutdowns and winter preparedness with the production group; and work with the corporate reliability group to develop the site preventive maintenance program as well as coordinate environmental compliance program requirements.
Responsible for formulating and developing goals and objectives and directing day-to-day activities.
Manage maintenance, electrical employees and initiate and drive operational enhancements and improvements.
Determine equipment and manpower requirements for daily operational needs and analyze and trouble-shoot major downtime events using structured problem-solving tools.
Reviews and update written maintenance instructions and schedules and work closely with Maintenance team and other departments to implement cost saving measures.
Set and monitor maintenance performance targets both short and long term and provide highly developed leadership, change management, interpersonal communication and people skills to help drive plant performance.
Ensure policies, procedures and practices are strictly adhered to and address all safety concerns either raised by employees or from safety audits.
Advise workers and management of any potential or actual hazards and manage the site maintenance budget.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or substantial equivalent experience.
5+ years of supervisory experience in a continuous process manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of CMMS programs such as Maximo.
Strong maintenance knowledge including reliability concepts, processes and methodologies.
Analytical, data-driven problem solving and action planning skills.
Experience in a union environment is preferred.
Ability to empower, supervise and direct a diverse workforce.
Strong computer skills and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and ability to interpret drawings is preferred.
Proven ability to build inter-departmental relationships, lead change and continuously improve the performance of the team.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, and manage, multiple tasks and responsibilities.
