Job Description

Candidate will be responsible for monitoring and assisting in the day-to-day operations of the data center. Will assist team members with new builds in remote sites. Work with different departments within the company to deploy new environments. This person will be onsite in the data center, responsible for receiving, deploying, cabling and documenting new equipment and remote hands as needed. Maintaining a clean and organized data center is a must.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 Years data center experience

  • Knowledge of Dell PowerEdge Servers

  • Knowledge of Dell iDRAC

  • Knowledge of data center power types and standards

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • RACADM CLI

  • Knowledge of Network topography

  • Dell Openmanage Enterprise experience

Daily Job Duties:

  1. Hardware installation & decommission of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure.

  2. Troubleshooting and repair of data center hardware and networking infrastructure.

  3. Rack and stack of data center equipment, including but not limited to servers, networking devices, monitoring systems and other equipment.

  4. Rack installation including putting racks in place, cabling, power up and handoff of servers to internal provisioning teams.

  5. Monitoring of DC environments using monitoring tools

  6. Monitor and respond in a ticketing environment that is used by multiple internal owners and teams.

  7. Documentation of activities and create/modify SOPs.

  8. Decommission life cycle of data center hardware.

  9. Inventory process, order replacement parts and return failed parts as required.

  10. Structured cabling, labelling, and troubleshooting of fiber/copper/telecom cables.

  11. System power supplies and cabling installation, troubleshooting and repair.

  12. Be able to execute small projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Show professionalism on your daily data center routine activities.

  2. Receive/ship data center equipment as needed.

  3. Install, Remove, troubleshoot hardware in data centers racks without disturbing other hardware and critical infrastructure on site.

  4. Maintain asset inventory and update internal applications as needed.

  5. Be accessible via cell phone and willing to work onsite as needed.

  6. Participate and complete training that aligns with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new relevant technologies.

  7. Act within Service Level Agreements (SLA) on the tickets assigned to you in your space.

Requirements:

  1. Knowledge of server/storage/network hardware.

  2. Excellent time management skills.

  3. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

  4. Be a good team player.

  5. Strong interest in learning new DC concepts.

  6. Dependable and trustworthy.

  7. Process oriented.

  8. Must be able to lift 75 lbs.

  9. Strong verbal and written communication skills

Required Skills:

  1. 1 year working in an IT environment.

  2. Troubleshooting Experience on servers, networking devices and IT equipment.

  3. Inventory management experience. Ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts.

  4. Ability to prioritize work based on business needs and urgency.

  5. Ability to communicate and write effectively in both verbal and written communication mediums.

  6. Experience taking on-call shifts and ability to respond to critical events as needed.

Experience escalating issues to Sr. onsite staff and management as needed.
