Act as liaison between HR departments and the various growing and harvesting crews and all out of area plant sites. Responsibilities include; mandated State/Federal postings, audit employee information, PETiger auditing, monitor payrolls, communicate policy and procedures, and assist supervisors to resolve HR related issues. Direct employee(s) seeking information to the appropriate HR Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Act as a liaison between HR management, its departments, the various growing/harvesting crews, and out of area plant sites.
Act as personnel/payroll liaison with contract labor employee field representatives.
Conduct random audits of payroll information, including timecard review, employee counts, wage and hour compliance and paycheck distribution.
Audit active employee information and communicate company policies and procedures.
Guide and assist company managers and supervisors with HR related issues including completion of necessary paperwork for hiring, transfers, training, pay changes, terminations, or lay offs.
Coordinate off site pre-placement testing and needed Fitness for Duty evaluations.
Conducts new hire orientations if necessary.
Maintain/distribute mandated State/Federal required postings at all designated sites.
Maintain effective working relationship with other HR Managers in Safety, WC, Training, Payroll, Benefits, and Employee Relations.
Other duties as assigned.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment. Ability to occasionally move about inside the office and outdoors in farming fields. Ability to continuously work outdoors all day in various and sometimes extreme weather conditions. Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100° to 110° F and as cold as 50° F). Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
Previous Human Resources experience in Ag environment preferred, especially in the areas of payroll, personnel, and contract labor relationships.
General knowledge of employment laws (especially Wage & Hour, FEHA, and LOA regulations) and company policies and procedures required.
Ability to interact effectively and objectively with all levels of employees and management.
Strong verbal and written skills needed.
Must possess the ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and maintain strictest confidentiality.
Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be bi-lingual, English/Spanish with the ability to speak, read, and write in both.
Remote work not available for this position.
Travel around the Kern, Riverside and Imperial county will be frequent, between 60%-80% of the time, as needed.
Overnight (including extended stay), out of town travel to Coachella Valley and Imperial County will be required during the winter harvest season.
Must be willing to work flexible hours, with some weekend hours and overtime required.
Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record.
Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.
