City Of Arvada Police Operations Supervisor in Arvada, Colorado

Position Purpose Organizes, supervises and coordinates the daily job duties of assigned staff, to include the Police Service Technicians (PSTs), and the Liquor Licensing Control Administrator. Ensures resources and training are available for line level personnel to be successful in completion of mission, duties and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Daily operational management of police operational support programs

Engages, schedules, directs, and monitors personnel and daily performance.

Troubleshoots computer programs and software systems to ensure the security of data and reports.

Gathers reports and relevant statistics for mandated crime reporting.

Assists in specialized projects or assignments and works as a liaison for the statewide and regional collaborations.

Pays invoices, tracks expenses, and oversees accounting of cash receipts for reports and bonds.

Conducts research related to vendor services and equipment needs.

Provides assistance in answering public and internal inquiries.

Engage in front line work and cover shift shortages.

Serves as an informational resource for citizens and employees.

Develops, manages and presents unit training and all applicable training for sworn and professional staff.

System SME serves as liaison to internal/vendor IT to ensure system reliability, efficient and prompt issue troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Develops and evaluates recommendations for changes in policies, procedures, and practices through proposals and/or reports.

Monitors equitable distribution of unit workload.

Exercises appropriate level of initiative and judgment to make decisions within the scope of assigned authority.

Acts as a positive role model.

Travels to and attends team and organizational meetings, training, events and activities and appropriately and professionally represents the department.

Demonstrates high levels of ethics and integrity.

Demonstrates leadership and courage by making or supporting decisions that reflect the organizational mission and goals.

AREA OF FOCUS

Liquor Licensing and Police Support Services

Demonstrate considerable knowledge of Colorado revised statutes, Arvada municipal ordinances, Arvada Police rules and procedures and their relationship to police management operations.

Reviews police reports for completeness and accuracy.

Supports the Crime Scene Investigations(CSI) Lab with assigned administrative duties.

Determines the necessity for investigative follow up on police reports.

Reviews liquor license applicant background, violations and inspection documents.

Reviews case filings, affidavits, and all required paperwork.

Performs or designates the duties and responsibilities of the Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) to ensure CJIS compliance, ensure adherence to restricted access protocols and proper usage of Federal and State systems.

Solid working knowledge of applicable Colorado Revised Statutes, City ordinances, Colorado Liquor and Beer Codes and Code of Regulations.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong working knowledge of commonly utilized police systems to include the payroll, records management, CCIC/NCIC and State and Federal Criminal Information systems, as well as solid computer and technical skills with ability to administer and utilize software systems, like Microsoft Office tools, Google Suite products and standard office...
